Pacific Eye Clinic is based in Southport on the Gold Coast, and provides diagnostic examinations, treatments and surgery for a range of eye diseases and disorders. Our clinic is equipped with the latest technologies to conduct a whole host of procedures. We offer treatments for cataracts, retinal detachment, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. We also offer all forms of refractive laser surgery.
Dr Marc Wei
Dr Marc Wei is our principal specialist laser and cataract surgeon. He graduated from University of Queensland Medical School in 1989 and underwent specialist training in ophthalmology at Royal Brisbane, Princess Alexandra and Mater Hospitals in Brisbane, culminating the Fellowship of Ophthalmology in 1998.
Upon completion of specialist training in Australia
He obtained further subspecialty training in glaucoma, cataract and paediatric ophthalmology at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children and at Kings College Hospital, London, UK.
Since 2000, he has been in private practice, specialising in cataract, glaucoma and laser refractive surgery on the Gold Coast, Brisbane and in Sydney. He is one of the earliest pioneers of toric and multifocal lenses for cataract surgery as well as the first surgeon in Queensland to be accredited for and is the most experienced in laser cataract surgery. He is also a pioneer in the use of SMILE laser treatment for myopia in QLD.
He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology
European Society of Refractive and Cataract surgeons and the Australasian Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons and is actively involved in research and presentations at ophthalmic conferences as well as teaching at Bond and Griffith University Medical Schools.
He also contributes his time to the Myanmar Eye program to help relieve blindness in developing countries. Dr Wei has also been one of LASERSIGHT’s principal surgeons since 2000. He is experienced in all refractive procedures, including Advanced PRK, LASIK, ICL and lens surgery.
